I think that over time, with Firefox's own sandbox evolving, its sandbox-like features and the multiprocess architecture will become completely dependent on one another (i.e. For me, disabling multiprocess is enough for FFX 51 to work with sandboxie, I did not have to touch the sandbox level! So I would recommend trying to set these two variables to FALSE first, and NOT to touch the sandbox level (separate processes for web content, main program ans so on). They only enable/disable the multiprocess architecture Leading to the levels 2 and 3 in the foreseeable future.ī = FALSE & .2 = FALSE will not directly lower your security in my opinion.
They haven't implemented a full sandbox yet, the maximum recommended level for this setting is 1 at this time, but Firefox's own Sandbox will become stronger and more restrictive over time, At least this can be inferred from the FFX wiki: Security.sandbox = 0 will definitely decrease security without Sandboxie (possibly to a significant degree), as it disables Firefox's own somewhat-sandbox-like features and possibly other I'm asking the question, cause I use firefox a lot exactly in that way and I wouldn't want to change settings permanently if it means compromising security in a serious way.
Will setting the security.sandbox to 0 and .2 to FALSE seriously impact the security of firefox if I run it OUTSIDE of sandboxie?
I am running windows 8.1 and sandboxie works fine in a sandboxed internet explorer, so it is just Firefox ver. Seems to have a version conflict of some significance. I even removed all sandboxie folder locations in the uninstall process.
I will unistalled firefox and find an older version for now but the issue remains and I have no idea what it is from other then the update that caused it, with errors happening immediately after. I updated adobe flash player for firefox.
Updated sandboxie to latest version available without keeping any of my old sandboxie settings. Videos will play after you find the play button trough tabbing and press play and tab once more and it will play video that moves and has sound but the web pages still do not show current or live data such as scrolling, new web pages, or other non video visual data. Scrolling down the page also does not work and must switch tabs back and forth to refresh the frozen image, while reloading the page does nothing. You can click on a frozen link not see it load and switch tabs back and forth to see where it is at now. Opening a new tab and switching between tabs will refresh the image and instantly freeze again. The screen freezes on the last image shown, opening to a blank page stays a blank page after hitting the home button, the address will change but the web page does not show, going to google and typing something to search for will change the address again to a google search results page and still be stuck on the original image of the blank page or whatever image it got last. Everything works fine outside the sandbox, but when opening inside sandbox the browser freezes and all actions do not actively show up on the screen but are still working without being seen. Firefox just updated to 51.0.1 32bit, browser opens to a blank page when opening and will go to google when pressing the home button.
